Just a "chime in". I hate to get in the middle of your discussion, but, SS should be totally eliminated! At the least, whether privitized or not, the fund should be "sealed" and every individual that pays in should at least get what they have paid. Look around Alexandria and see the people that are "DRUNKS" getting SSIDisability. Remember the "crazy checks" (which still exist) where parents are insisting their children be in special ed classes to get the $480 a month, per child! I have two friends that were counselors in schools, on many occasions they recommended a child be placed in the regular school system based on their test results. They were not special ed, but, the parents demanded they stay in sp ed, and get the "crazy checks". I hate to be derogatory, but, that's what they call them, "crazy checks"? NO ONE, I Mean NO ONE should get a penney they have not paid in! SSID should only be for the people that acutally paid in. It is not fair, and I don't care what the circumstance, that any one get a check when they have not paid into the system. It is like someone walking into my bank and wanting money from my checking/savings account. Hey, IT AIN'T YO MONEY!
I hope your discussion is not interupted by me, but, I was reading your post and my blood pressure started to rise!
If we continue to have SS it should be fully "re-funded" with the money congress has Stolen from the accounts and frozen and protected for SS only. Don't buy tanks, don't balance other budget items, don't pay people that haven't paid in! It is a very simple process, It is MY money and I should have the full benefit of the money I am forced to Pay!
