Subject: Answers to your questions

Question 1-I think that McGreevy's action was both good and bad for him. On the GOOD side, He knew that he was unable to fire Baraka, and relied upon him to undo himself if he wanted to. He managed to save face with the Jewish rights people, while merely making a suggestion. On the BAD side, that suggestion showed McGreevey's people that he would readily comprimise the bill of rights AND go against someone who not only had the guts to give his opinion, but was actually appointed to do so. knowing that this poet has a history of making strong remarks against those who he believes at fault, one would think that if this irks the polliticians, that they might think twice before putting him in the position he is in to begin with. It is like closing the barn door after the horse runs out.

Question 2-I don't know all of the percentages, but I do know thatthere were also many Jewish people killed, and non Jewish people who weren't there either. I can't say that there was a basis for this strong conclusion.

Question 3- I'm glad you asked this. One thing that I am sure of about all of this is that nobody in the world, not presidents or kings or poets can honestly say what everyone wants to hear, or what they believe to be true.

Question 4- Yes, but even then, they couldn't speak for everyone. not everyone believes in what Bush has to say, and yet he represents all of us.

Question 5- I think that he is a man who pulls no punches, which is at times to be admired, but 'this is the way the world ends- not with a bang but with a whimper' to quote another poet. One group angers another untill the tiny snowball rolls itself into an avalanche.

Question 6- No way, no how! It's bad enough that they are videotaping street corners.

Question 7- If they were silly enough to select me, I would probably be more socially conscous in my poetry, but i see what direction you are coming from in this question, and I will say this-Discretion is the better part of valor- not my words, but those of someone who measured theirs carefully enough to go places without toe crunching.
