Mariah attended the Christmas Nationals in 2006, as stated before. She was crowned the 0-18 mo division supreme on stage during crowning. We received $300 cash the day of crowning. I don't recall if it was the same day, or several days later that I was notified that Mariah should have been crowned the Overall Novice Queen. I emailed the director, Jackie Montgomery, to verify this and she agreed. She stated that she would be sending us the correct crown and banner and the remaining portion of her monetary winnings as soon as she could as she had lost a lot of money and asked if I would be a little patient in getting paid. I agreed.
About 2 weeks later, I received the crown and banner. In January 2007 I received a payment from Jackie for $100 and another in March 2007 for $100. For a total of $500!
Now, I had no reason to question any of the payments, or the total amount received? I did not take notice at the paperwork, because I did not have it. The paperwork that I received on the way to the pageant, was incorrect. It had been emailed to me and was missing several key components including the $100 registration fee, which I had to pay at registration because I was unaware of it completely.
It was not until these accusations were made, that I even gave this pageant a thought. I listed Mariah has a level 2, because she received $500 cash from this pageant. Now, after days of talking on the phone and internet with both Jackie and Madonna, we have concluded that Mariah was actually overpaid by $200. Our assumption is that Jackie did not realize that Mariah's original envelope (winnings)that we received at crowning were not prorated, and we received the full cash amount. This had to be an accident, because everyone else's awards were prorated. I didn't think twice, nor realize the amount received was larger than it should have been?
So, we are going to go by the paperwork, and show that Mariah won $300. I have offered to send Jackie the overpayment of $200 that we should not have received to begin with.
Now, Mariah will be in the level 1 group this weekend. I have mixed feelings about all of this. I feel that if the person or person(s) that questioned this, would have come to me instead of bashing, I could have resolved this much sooner and easier! I have NEVER knowingly made false statements, or tried to lie about Mariah's level. In fact, she received $500 cash for her overall novice title, as I stated!
We are still planning to attend Glamour Girls this weekend, and to have a fun filled weekend. I wish the best of luck to all who are attending!
