I have not heard any meantion that the servers will have the same names but I could be wrong. I will be playing where my friends go. It makes no difference to me what server that is on. No matter what server you do choose, you shouldn't have much trouble finding people to play with (Unless your name is Doom Slayer).

As far as crafting goes, you will always have people that are nto crafting.Blod and I have done a fair amount of it and I am sure that will not change once the game goes retail.

As far as it being a console game, I don't buy that. NHL 2003 for the PC IS a console game. Sure they dumbed AC2 down a bit but I believe they did it more from a balance standpoint. Lets be honest, one of the biggest problems in AC1 was balance. Every couple of months there were a new template that was dominating the landscape. If you create all players equal then no one really has an advantage over others. As they progress they are limited by attributes that hindered people in AC1. More so than just dumbing down the game, putting everyone on an even playing field helps curb all the cry babies.

As far as the boards go on AC Vault.. what is the point of posting there? You are severly limited on what you can say due to the disclosure agreement we all have to adhere to. IGN has already stated they will ban people who violate that agreement. I wouldn't look to the Vault boards activity as an accurate gauge as to which servers will see higher populations.

As far as buying the game, yeah, I think I will... I have no interest in playing AC1 anymore but I really love the social aspects of MMORPGs.
