Anamnesis Press
Poetry Chapbook Award. A prize of $1,000 and
publication by Anamnesis Press is given annually for a
poetry manuscript. 20 Copies of the chapbook will be

Associated Writing Programs
Award Series. $10,000 advance and pub by Thomas
Dunne Books, an imprint of St. Martin's Press, is given
annually for a novel written in English. Thomas Dunne
Books editors will judge. Submit an unpublished novel
of at least 60,000 words. Prizes of $2,000 and
publication by a participating university press are given
annually for book-length manuscripts of poetry, short
fiction, and creative nonfiction. For the poetry ward,
submit a manuscripts of poetry, short fiction, and
creative nonfiction. For the poetry award, submit a
manuscripts of at least 48 pages; Marilyn Chin will
judge and the University of Pittsburgh Press will publish
the winning collection. For the short fiction award,
submit a manuscript of 150 to 300 pages; Barry
Sanders is the judge and the University of Georgia press
is the participating press. Former students of a judge
may not enter in the genre he or she is judging. Entry fee
for each award is $20 ($10 for AWP members).
Submissions must be postmarked between January 1

Astraea Foundation
Lesbian Writers Fund. Two grants of $10,000 and four
$1,250 grants are given annually to lesbian poets and
fiction writers. Applicants must live in the U.S. and must
have published at least one work in a newspaper,
magazine, or anthology, but no more than one book.
Submit 10 to 15 pages of poetry or no more than 20
pages of fiction with a $5 entry fee by March 8. Send

Bellingham Review

David Lee. Tobias Wolff Award for Fiction is given for

Campbell Corner
Poetry Prize. $2,500 is given annually for a poem on the
themes explored in Joseph Campbell's writing. Winning
poem will be published on the Campbell Corner Web
site, the winner will be invited to read at Sarah Lawrence

The Cleveland Foundation
Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards. $10,000 is given annually
for a book of poetry, fiction, or creative nonfiction that
has made "important contributions to our understanding
of racism or our appreciation of the rich diversity of
human cultures." If more than one winner is chosen, the
prize id divided evenly among the winners. Books
written in English and published in 2000 are eligible.
Copies of the book must be sent to the panel of jurors

$5,000 individual Fellowships are each given annually to
Florida writers of poetry and fiction. Applicants must be
legal residents of Florida at the time of application; and
during the fellowship period. Students are not eligible.

Great Lakes Colleges Association
New Writers Awards. A paid reading tour is given
annually to a poet and a fiction writer whose first books
were published in the preceding year. Winners read at
several of the GLCA's 12 member colleges, each of
which pays an honorarium of at least $300 plus lodging
and travel expenses. Publishers may submit four copies
of one book for each category by February 28. Galleys

Milton Center Postgraduate Fellowships. Two
residency fellowships are given annually to poets or
fiction writers of Christian commitment to complete their
first books. Fellows receive a stipend of $1,125 per

honor a poetry book published in the preceding year.

San Francisco Foundation
Literary Awards. Three prizes of $2,000 are given
annually to writers between 20 and 35 years of age for
unpublished works-in-progress. The Joseph Henry
Jackson Award is given for a work of poetry, fiction, or
creative nonfiction. Applicants must be residents of
northern California or Nevada for at least three
consecutive years prior to the deadline. The Mary
Tanenbaum Award has the same residency requirements
as the Jackson Award, but is awarded only for a work
of creative nonfiction. The James D. Phelan Award is
given for a work of poetry, fiction, or creative
nonfiction. Applicants must be natives of California.
For all wards, submit manuscripts of poetry, fiction, or
creative nonfiction of no more than 100 pages by

$23,000 and an academic year in residence at the
Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing is given annually

fiction. Fellows will teach one introductory worship in
creative writing each semester and give one public
reading. Writers with an MFA or an equivalent degree
in creative writing and who have not published a book
