Date Posted: 03:07:49 10/30/02 Wed Special offer on lessons with Professor Phillip Kawin from Manhatten School of Music, New York while he is in Australia. Master Performers Australia has arranged with Professor Phillip Kawin from the Manhattan School of Music New York, to give private lessons during the week following the Hunts Master Performers Scholarship competition. This is an excellent opportunity for Australian Pianists to avail themselves of such expertise with out the extra cost of overseas travel. Phillip Kawin has developed a highly individual pedagogical approach that has established him as a much sought-after artist teacher. His concepts have evolved through an eclectic background of training that combine a variety of artistic and aesthetic influences. His style of teaching presents the principles of technique and musicianship in a detailed analytical approach, however, which does not ignore the intuitive aspect of music-making. In 1989, Mr. Kawin was appointed to the college faculty of Manhattan School of Music where he currently works with a select studio of advanced, gifted pupils. Coming from diverse corners of the globe, the students in Mr. Kawin's studio over the past 12 years have hailed from Russia, Chile, Hong Kong, Australia, Japan, Korea, Finland, France, China, Taiwan, Mexico, as well as the United States. They have won top honours in such competitions as the Jacob Flier International, World Piano, Thelonious Monk International (jazz piano), Melilla in Spain, Soulima Stravinsky International, Josef Hofmann, Artists International, Dora Zaslavsky Koch, and Leschetizky competitions. Master Performers is subsidising lessons with Phillip. You can now book lessons for the cost of $100 per hour. Phillips normal cost for a one-hour lesson is $200. Present venues for lessons with Phillip are at the Australian International Conservatorium of Music at Harris Park and at Hunts Motor Inn and Function Centre at The Crossroad. Should any teacher have enough pupils wanting lessons and or Master Classes, Master Performers can arrange to have Phillip attend your own venue.
