The Sutherland Shire and St George Youth Music Awards


The Sutherland Shire and St George Youth Music Awards is an annual event
organised by Sutherland Shire Council in association with Sutherland Music
Club. It would be appreciated if you could mention these awards to your students ...

The Youth Music Awards aim to provide:

Access to music performance opportunities
Breadth for music of different styles and cultural traditions
Coverage in the St George and Sutherland Shire
Quality encouraging high standards for all

The Award judging criteria includes:

Presentation and Professionalism
Atmosphere and Visual Impression
Music Selection and Performance Quality
Creative Ability
Audience Appeal
Music Accuracy

The Awards encourage individual performers to show their style and
versatility in a spirit of friendly competition. It seeks to encourage
musical and performance excellence in classical music, jazz, music theatre
and cabaret. The performance experience can assist young performers
developing into confident, outward looking, creative performers. Emphasis
is given to the performance capability rather than technical difficulty.

The following prizes will be awarded in 2003

1st Place $500 Cash Award and Trophy
2nd Place $250 Cash Award and Trophy
3rd Place $100 Cash Award and Trophy
Youngest Finalist Trophy
Gold Clef Awards Medallion
Silver Clef Awards Medallion
Bronze Clef Awards Medallion

The adjudicators will be Dr Margaret Brandmann, Sven Libaek and Suzanne
Towers.

Entry Forms and Information Sheets are available from Sutherland Shire Council
(02) 9710 0999.

Entrants should be aged 13 - 18 years and live in the St George / Bankstown
/ Sutherland Shire regions.

Entries close on 13 June 2003.
