Subject: Los Angeles Bach Festival

If you are in the Los Angeles area, please join us.

This is one of the oldest Bach Festivals in California. It originated in 1934 under the baton of John Smallman and now in its 70th year. The first concert will be Tuesday, April 22, 7:30 in the Sanctuary. It will be an organ recital by Dr. Frederick Swann. The second concert will be Wednesday, April 23, 7:30 p.m. in Shatto Chapel, this will be the Los Angeles Bach Society, under the direction of Edward Murray, Artistic Director; the third concert will be a free mid-day organ recital by Edward Murray, the organist in residence and will begin at 12:10 p.m. in the main sanctuary; the fourth concert will be held Saturday, April 26, in Shatto Chapel and will begin at 7:30 p.m.. This is the Thornton Early Music Ensemble under the direction of James Tyler, Artistic Director; The final concert will be a recreation of the original finale held in 1934, the Bach B-Minor Mass, with the Los Angeles Bach Festival Chorus & Orchestra under the baton of Alexander Ruggieri, director.
