I know we all have our stories to tell, and good reasons as to why we may be selling out of our much-loved feathered friends, but I feel we should put these 3 people at the top of our list when bird-hunting... that's if we care about making a difference.... also, they cover 3 of the main general areas in SE Qld...
Firstly, in South BRISBANE itself, there's Peter, on 3844 3611.
He is going to Germany soon to have stem-cell cancer treated, and has no one to care for his birds, so is wanting to sell as many as possible before he goes. He is also happy to 'loan' them to someone with lots of land and time on their hands, and just go 'halves' on the proceeds of the chicks...?
These birds include:
Indian Ringnecks - green through to pastels and lacewings (pairs and babies),
Moustache (one is Java) pairs and handraised male baby,
Green Cheek and Nanday Conures,
and others.
Secondly, North, there's Karen in BUNDABERG on 0419 191 423 or shekanary@hotmail.com
Karen acquired most of her feathered stock on the advice of her partner-at-the-time, who has since run out on her, leaving her with all the birds to care for on her own...
including...
Indian Ringnecks - (?50) colours from green to pastel grey, mature and last years, prices from $20 to $100;
Kakarikis - (14) 4 pair + 6 spare cocks, prefer to be sold in one lot $800;
Red Rumps(?40)various colours,
Bourke Parrots - (?70) normals, rosa, cream, pink,and ?as to what to call the others;
Galah pairs - (5);
Sulphur Crested Cockatoo pairs - (3);
Mallee ringneck - (1) cock bird;
Green Cheeked Conure - pairs(3 + spare hen)prefer to sell in one lot $600;
Cockatiels - (?30) pastel silver, whiteface and normals.
After all the birds are sold the aviaries are for sale. Sure, she's learning to love them for their own sake, but I wouldn't want that kind of reminder, would you?
Thirdly, South, there's Nic, in COOMINYA, on 5426 4335.
Due to her son's recent death, she is finding it very difficult to cope with the large collection of birds she has, including...
Indian Ringnecks
a recently-weaned handraised male Eclectus,
Alexandrines (pairs and handfed babies)
Sun Conures and Green Cheeked Conures (pairs and babies)
and Quakers
Both of these Southsiders have NO INTERNET ACCESS, so are truly struggling to advertise their beautiful birds effectively... I found both through the Weekend Shopper, listened to their tales of woe, and promised to do everything I could to help them out....
*UPDATE* Thanks to wonderful people like yourselves, Nic has almost sold all her excess stock, but Peter is still struggling, and he is due to leave for Germany VERY soon...PLEASE, if possible, try to make him top priority...?
Can ANYBODY ELSE out there do anything to help these people?
Anyone looking for LOTS of birds at once, PLEASE try these first... and tell them I referred you, so they don't think I've forgotten...
Warm Regards to All
