It works just like any other event, except that there is a different dance in each round (drawn at random from a hat), so you have to be pretty good at ballroom and latin to make it to the final...

No dance is danced twice, except for the final which contains all four (WQCJ).

So you might get

1st round: Waltz
2nd round: Cha
QF: Jive
SF: QS
F: WQCJ

If you are not equally good at ballroom and latin the random order might have a big influence on how far you get... (e.g. if you're good at ballroom and ok at latin, you might prefer Cha and Jive in the 1st and 2nd round, hoping you will still make it, and then have a good chance to reach the final with the last two dances being WQ)

>and what do you wear?

good question :). Some people try and change, if you're in the 2nd heat of the early rounds it's entirely possible to at least put on different shoes, maybe even a longer skirt for ballroom. In the semi-final you know in advance what the dance is going to be (only one left). In the final, changing is almost impossible as the 4 dances are danced in a row.

I would recommend ballroom shoes for the men and latin shoes for the women, and some form of open costume that's ok for both...

Anyway, I've never had the chance to participate as only 6 couples per university are allowed... maybe this year!

Robin
