Hi Vinnie

All the lessons pay for themselves. We do get a small amount of money from the union but we use that mainly to subsidise other stuff like costumes, social classes (which often make a loss), transport etc.

Everyone pays for their own private lessons (24 pounds per hour).
For group lessons we pay 3 pounds each for 2 hours of classes (1 hour ballroom and 1 hour Latin).
We only pay 1 teacher for a group lesson, even if 2 are teaching (eg if Darren and Lilia both teach the class, we pay them 24 pounds between the two, not each. Same for Craig and Hayley. Mostly only one of them actually teaches at once anyway.)
That means we pay out 96 pounds for 4 hours of classes (cos we run 2 classes simultaneously (beginners and advanced). So we need only 32 people to break even. Considering we have a squad of around 50 people, it works out pretty well since of course not everyone turns up every week.

You just need to figure out how much you pay for your teachers and room hire in total, how many people you get on average to a class, and then set the fee for a lesson appropriately. Assuming you have at least 20 people turning up regularly, you should be able to break even, unless your room hire is expensive.
