It had started around 10 in the morning - a knock on the door, a delivery man there with a dozen roses in hand, but no evidence of who they were from or why they were there, just that they were for Cassandra. Every hour on the hour from that time on - another dozen roses and, again, no explanations. Finally around 9 that evening, the final bouquet arrived - a dozen, dozen red roses for her - accompanied by a note...

I miss you, and I miss our family. I know you don't deserve any of this, and I've always known I don't deserve you. I don't know how, or why, I can ever do things that hurt you, and it kills me to think of how you feel. I'm supposed to be the one making you smile, and laugh, and beating up the guys who make you cry. I love you though, more than anyone or anything else, and that's all I can say. He had enough trouble writing, let alone composing, so it said nothing but what he could try to express. Even with the simple words and the short length of the entire letter, there were a couple crossed out mistakes and mis-spelled words. He had been so embarassed - struggling to write it for her - but it was yet another example that he would do anything for her...

She was running out of places to put the roses, but they were everywhere and Kesi was loving them, running from bouquet to bouquet smelling them, and laughing as the soft petals tickeled her face. Cassie sat on the couch, smiling lightly at her daughters reaction as she refolded the note. It meant a lot to her, that he had taken the time to write her, she knew how hard it was for him.
