Subject: WELLER COUNTRY

In a break from his normal british mod r&b sound and following on
from his highly successful covers album 'Studio 150' mod god Paul
Weller has recorded a mini-album of country and western classics and
orginals. The 6 track cd was recorded whilst Weller and his band were
on a recent tour of the USA in sessions in Memphis and Nashville, but
only guitarist Steve Craddock, of Ocean Colour Scene, and drummer
Steve White, appear on the cd. Craddock plays steel slide guitar on
two tracks, White bushes on all the tracks. Two of the tracks are
duets with new country acts Randy Travis and Garth Brooks
contributing vocals to their own songs covered by Weller.

Weller has said he was inspired by the albums by the Byrds such
as 'Sweethearts of the Rodeo' and Gram Parsons as well as country
albums by artists such as Ray Charles and Neil Young.

The albums track listing is being kept a well guarded secret but
Weller hopes that this album will finally see him break america in
artist as his own right not just the cult following he enjoys today.

It is hoped the limited edition album will be released late June or
early July, and it is thought a speciallist country and western label
is being sort.

Weller has no plans to tour the album, although one of gigs in
Nashville or Memphis could be a possibility and a DVD probable in the
future.
