Subject: The Weller Weekend 06 POW!

Well-er what a great weekend!
FRIDAY 19TH
We all meet up in the usual hotel for a few afternoon drinks and said are hello's and then trooped on down to The Star to see WELL A LIVE and have a bop about...great djing from Kev Lock and at one point Nobby was jumping up and down so much Kev nearly put Nobby's head though the Bass bin on stage for scratching his records. Well what can you say about WELL A LIVE that wasn’t said on the night...so I wont bore you with it here...survice to say everyone had a brilliant time.
SATURDAY 20TH
First band on
POPE
Not my cup of char. if you get my drift and anyone who knows me will know why.....but they did a sterling job and got the evening off to a cracking start next up
The Casbah Club
Bruce looking fine in a light jacket and a certain Mr Townsend looking like he had lost the dash to the backstage wardrobe area because he lost out on a shirt!lol
First time I had seen them and they didn’t disappoint.
Next on the headline act...
The Gift
24 Years grown men have waited to see it happen, and on Saturday night it did, right in front of are eyes..RICK & BRUCE on the same stage doing two songs:
Smithers Jones
Down In the Tube Station at Midnight
At the sight of this two thirds of a JAM reunion middle aged men wept, they leaped about like it was 1980 all over again. Mag had promised Nobby (You all know him) he could meet his idol and have a picture taken with him...well Nobby was like a dog with two dicks and couldn’t stop telling everyone after that.
Bruce looked like he had a great time playing the old songs with Rick and the audience went mad as Bruce came on and strapped on that famous bass, the sound was of those songs being played by those two men....I mean what can you say AMAZING!!...
The evening ended how it had began IN THE BAR and the party went on to ohhh let's just say the early/late hours. Is that 7 o clock on my watch there Jim?? Says Ossy..I think it is...fook me better go to bed then...and before anyone ask's the fire alarm DID'NT GO OFF THIS YEAR....
So back home and down to earth for another year, I would just like to thank:
