Subject: Pope Live In London! Saturday 5th August.

POPE www.pope.uk.net
Chris Pope first composed his perceptive, razor sharp vignettes on the British way of life in the late ‘70s as the guitarist with Deptford Mod-Punk four-piece The Chords.
When their singer Billy Hassett quit in ’81, Pope formed Agent Orange, then moved to New York to peddle his craft with Gatecrash Heaven ( who bizarrely, were managed by Diana Ross’s husband) before returning home and reuniting with Chords’ drummer Buddy Ascott as Pope. Their 10-track album, “Grace of God” a Pat Collier-produced debut reveals their protagonist hasn’t mellowed a bit with age. His songs still bristle with frustration and vitriol ( Friends Like That) and cloaked in Who-like anthemic rock guitars and flamboyant Moon-like rolls ( Don’t You Ever let It Get You Down) they still provide a voice for those who never received all they truly deserved.
The new album will be previewed “Live” together with a few old faves.

Plus special guests:.
The Coronation
The Coronation formed at the end of 2004 when Ben and Graeme had penned a few tunes together while living in Guildford. They later called in Jase the bass and Billy on drums and quickly prepared a small set of songs ready for gigging around the south. After playing a few small gigs with their first songs such as Trainstation and The Borstal The Coronation were already impressing industry and building a fan base.
September 2005 saw The Coronation move to Liverpool to establish themselves in the northern music scene and to improve their catalogue of songs. It is here they have proved themselves to be one of Liverpools most up and coming bands and have played notable support slots.
In January 2006 a vinyl release of their single Heartbleeder was released through Worst Case Scenario records which received positive reviews. Promotional gigs in London ensued.
Over a year after playing their first gig The Coronation have an impressive catalogue of songs and memorable gigs including The Mean Fiddler, The Clapham Grande, Liverpool Barfly and a headline slot at the Tapton Music Festival at Sheffield University. Their energetic live performance is something special to be seen.
Heartbleeder has received Radio One airplay with Steve Lamacq and Zane Lowe and has lead to larger interest from fans and the wider music industry.
