Subject: Lake Texoma (hilly trail run) on Sunday anyone?

Scott Eppleman will be leading a few of us on a trail run this Sunday at Lake Texoma. This is where he goes for his hill training. It is a 90 minute drive from Scott's house. Anyone interested, meet at the clubhouse at 5:30am, we'll stop by Scott's house and pick him up. We plan to run about 20 (slow) miles so don't plan on getting home until the afternoon. Of course, you can run fewer miles if interested and drive separately if you want to return home earlier. So far, K2, Rick, and I are going. Let one of us know if you're interested, so we'll be sure to look for you Sunday morning. More details on what to bring, etc, below.

Tim

Tim et al.,

Let's make it definite for Sunday the 24th. We could meet at my house,
which is between Grapevine and I-35, which we will take. How about planning
to be on the road no later than 6:00?

We will park at a marina called Cedar Bayou (cedarbayou.com, with a link to
Cross Timbers Trail info) that is about 2.5 miles from one end of the trail.
We'll do that out & back, then return to the cars for water bottle fill up.
Next we will head out the other direction on the trail, approximately 7
miles to another marina which has a small store which should be open for
cold drinks. Even if it isn't, we can get water from a spigot. Then back
to the cars for 19 miles, give or take. If anyone is game we can add "Lost
Loop" for 2-3 bonus miles on the way back.

K2 asked about camping in my yard, and breakfast/lunch. Camping sounds
great! I'll be inside in cool air conditioned comfort with my wife and
Archie the dog, however. As for breakfast/lunch, there is a McDonald's
where we'll get on I-35, otherwise how about if everyone just takes care of
that themselves. For post-run Cedar Bayou Marina has a restaurant. I
cannot guarantee that it will be open, and don't intend to check in advance.

I recommend that everyone, at a minimum, bring the following:
* as much fluid as you will need for several hours
in the hot sun
* a cooler with ice
* TWO water bottles to carry or the equivalent
* electrolytes (I have plenty of extra and can bring
a supply, let me know if I should)
* gel or some calorie source, if you will need it
* sunscreen

Sorry for pointing out the obvious, but this will take longer than a 19
miler on the roads, extra fluids won't be readily at hand, and everyone
should plan accordingly.

Questions/comments?

Scott
