I assume for your purposes you just want some webspace to hold content but you're not too concerned about looks or having a catchy name. http://www.eteamz.com has a free option and is in the business of providing sites for groups like yours and makes it very easy for non-techy people to set up and maintain. You will probably have to put up with pop-up adds for the free option. The paid option is $50/year or so. There are quite a few options for the free site with pop-ups. Eteamz is just geared to team sports sites.

One "free with no adds" option would be to use someone's personal webspace that comes with their internet connection. I know charter gives each subscriber free webspace. Our club used this option for 2 or 3 years. This will require someone to be slightly more knowledgeable in webpage setup.

If you are willing to pay $10/year for your own domain name, $10/month for site hosting and have someone knowledgable in webpage setup the options become too numerous to list.
