Subject: Run In The Dark 5K

I'm passing this along......

Hi,

I live nearby and direct a Run/Walk that benefits several hundred local needy kids in NE Tarrant county. It is called "RUN IN THE DARK" and is a 5K and 1-mile (your choice)... run or walk. The charitable agency that hosts it is 'The Community Storehouse' in Keller. Last year, we had about 300 in the 5K and another 300 in the 1-mile. . . all ages, all speeds. This year, I expect around 400 in each.

I want to invite you and all the Lake Grapevine Runners and Walkers to participate in our event. It is on Saturday evening, August 23 in Bear Creek Park in Keller. I am aware of the Colleyville Run in the morning, but this one is bigger, has food and drink for everyone (even spectators), and includes a nice silent auction. Local News Only (.com) has some information on it, and it will be featured alongside the Lions Club event in the Northeast Tarrant Monthly.

Last year, we were able to help 200 underprivileged kids. This year, almost 600 of them signed up for aid! The huge increase in demand due to multiple layoffs has not been matched by a similar increase in donations, so I REALLY want to 'grow' this event to help these children. They need basic school supplies, socks, underwear, and sneakers for school.

Our website has LOADS of info. . . we have GROUP DISCOUNTS, free entry with pledges, door prizes, nice t-shirts, online registration available, etc. Please consider this as a fun event for your group to enter. www.communitystorehouse.org

Thanks very much,

Maureen Schmiedel
