Subject: Spudman conditions...

Lee called this morning to give me the scoop on the ironman....he said the weather conditions were unbelievable. Normal highs for this time of year are 75, but yesterday they hit 95!! Lee said that people were being taken away in ambulances right and left. He even got a bit dizzy and had to take a 10 minute rest on the bike. Carl and Lee walked the first 2 miles of the marathon, and Carl ended up actually passing out around the halfway point of the run. The bike course was hilly he said, but the heat was what really took its toll on everyone. I can't imagine even doing a marathon in those conditions, let alone the ironman! Congrats to all of you who participated...what an accomplishment!!!
