Subject: November darkness

Someone's coal fire smoke is leaking into my kitchen. I can smell it coming down the blocked chimney behind the chipboard as the radiator is switched off and the cold evening air is seeping in.

Last night was foggy in Firhouse and when it gets that way everybody, everywhere gets becalmed in silent clouds. By morning, you can see bicycle tracks and footprints in the dew on the fields. But the fog has retreated back into the ground.

It's cold in November and we light fires to drive out the fog and the dark, cold air.
