Subject: live and direct from the game

initially it looked like stanford would have more representation in the stands as i seemed to be surrounded by stanford fans and stanford had a good size student cheering section in addition they brought their band too
but the scu students showed up and was heard, at worse it was 50-50 scu-stanford in attendance

travis niesen is fearless, and somehow knocks down his shots, even when guarded by a taller defender
brody angley has potential to be good, made some freshmen mistakes, towards end of the game DD somewhat angrily pulled him aside for a quick lesson on not to foul when opponent is 70 feet from their basket especially when you are trying to run out the clock
tristan parham looks like a solid post player and i can see him improving and producing more as the season rolls along
stanford's height advantage was evident on the boards, sean denison may have made a difference in that department
kyle and doron played to expectations, it was good to see other players step up as a result SCU did not have to heavily rely on kyle or doron to pull miracles with the shotclock winding down
i like the 3 guard line up. not sure how often it will be used throughout the year...
thats all i got off the top of my head, i'll post more if i remember anything else

Been on the road .... starting in Stockton and Winding thru Seattle, Eugene, Santa Clara

Watched the Broncs look ok,,, at UOP (still having problem defending the 3 ... but looked better the 2nd half ... and this was a team that reminded me a bit of SMC ... have a Kickert(sp?) type that Travis, Jordon, and "Tree" will have to contend with ...

when I saw the game (after the 0-6 start) the Broncs played the Tigers even ... and didn't look all that good doing so ... so I was a bit worried about Sunday ...

The Broncs apparently weren't ... after a slow start they came alive ... the three guard offense is something I predict (given a lack of interior height) we will see a lot of ... it gives DD something to work with and out coach the opposition with ... they are going to beat us somewhat on the inside with height so we counter with a more mobile squad and hope for more mismatches in our favor ... (just my guess)

nice to see Scott B. doing better ... he is actually (currently) about the best shooter on the team ...

Current Bronco Averages:
PPG Niesen 16.8
REB Perkins 6.0
AST Bailey 4.8
FG% Borchart 84.6
FT% Niesen 82.9
3P% Angley 50.0
BLK Perkins 0.7
STL Perkins 2.3

he was 4-4 against Stanford and did it quietly ... saw him take one to the rim with some agression and will like to see more ... he always looks good from the FT line ...

the ally-oop from Doron to Tristan was very nice (made all the Bay Area TV SCU highlights I saw)... and something probably not seen in a Bronco game plan in a while ... my guess is that it won't be the last time ... but probably will still not be a regular occurance ... (the guys - Doran and "Tree" were really smiling afterwards)

Brody still continues to break off-tackle and for the most part looks good doing so .. and makes (for the most part) good shooting and passing decisions ... he seems to be a fast learner and continues to show no fear ...

I noticed on most of the TV Sports reports and the write-up the game was mostly about S***ford ... not the arguably one of the two best teams in the Bay Area ...

got to run ... perhaps more later ... probably will miss the San Jose St. game ... will someone cover???

ps:

SCU 4-2 ... like the announcer said during the NC game ... we expected a 14 pt game ... we just didn't expect it to be in SCU's favor ... I would be happy with a 4-2 start just would not have expected the wins we got (although I always thought the "Tree" could be felled) ...

Broncos trample the "Robber Barons" of Stanford ...
