Subject: Not Heartless ... but ...

Obviously some heart in the Broncos this evening ... I had almost given up after the Broncs had seemed to blow the lead KB seemed to have sealed at the :41 left mark with a duce to put the Broncs up by 5 ...

then a couple of threes + by YALE and they're up by 3 with :03 left ... then that "deperation"? 3 by Brody ... the big stat of regulation 21 assists on 25 FGs ...

new life but a bunch of 3's by the Yallies pulled them ever further ahead ... a KB air-ball 3 out-of-bounds at :39 in OT was just about the final nail

I've said before the Broncos are about a PG away of making a lot of noise in the conference ... with a couple of late game threes and 5-8 shooting and 5 assists perhaps by this time next year Mr. Angley may be that man ...

if you can't be at Leavey (or where ever) at least we have BIG LEW ...

well at least now there's a chance the ZAGs will be looking past the 'struggling' Broncos ..

While I agree with you that Angley is developing (he also had 5 assists and no turnovers),, unless he becomes Steve Nash, this team isn't going anywhere if it doesn't play with maximum intensity all of the time. The losses to Poly, Irvine and CCS were inexecuseable. If the Broncos play with Carolina/Stanford/2nd half UOP intensity, those games and the one tonight are in the win column. It is the same story every season, a few wins or near misses against prominent teams and then inexplicable punkings at the hands of the Central Connecticut States of the world.Even at the apex of the Nash era, they'd still lose in the first round of the WCC tournament to undermanned 8th seeds. (yes, I know they won the tourney Nash's freshman year). I know they've been snake bit with injuries over the past 6 years. If things don't turn aound, I think wholesale changes are inevitable. DD is a great guy who's forgotten more about BBall than an armchair point guard like me will ever know or understand, but he needs to win to stay. He's said as much himself. To win he needs to get his (our) team to play hard all of the time, not just in marquee games.
I feel better now. My wife went to BYU; they've beaten us every time we've played since Mike Stewart and Fred Lavoroni. I'm gonna be pissed if she can have braggin' rights for another year.

but i think this season could be shot. i will still cheer in hopes of being proven wrong.

however, with gonzaga is playing like a powerhouse and usf streaking, the wcc is going to be tough

A few more bad losses and now people start to agree with me that DD has got to go. I like DD, but it's always been this way. Play hard in the marquee games and disappoint against the no-name teams. I don't even think winning the WCC tourney should save DD's job. Because it will be the same story year in year out. With the WCC improving all around us, I think it's time to inject some new blood and a new philosophy into the program. It would be nice to see if one of the Zags assistants (just like that one post said) would come to coach out here. At least they would inject a winning attitude into the program. But hey, even if SCU doesn't go anywhere this year we'll always have the UNC game to be proud about.
