there are few more satisfying than watching the Broncos throttle, thump, thrash and "thrill" (a little 70's nomenclature)the Gaels in Moraga. Good Bronco "D" coupled with a bad shooting night by SMC provided a measure of revenge after SCU getting killed twice last season.
What this shows is that SCU can play with anyone when properly motivated, and that if they stay healthy, are capable of winning the WCC Tournament.
BTW. Don's Central is saying that Theo Robertson is leaving the area and going to Notre Dame.

A Gale Force Bronco Effort Blows Away the Gaels -- Bronco66, 21:57:31 01/15/05 Sat
missed the "bus" to Moraga but watched the show on TV with D-Lew on the Radio for Play-by-Play ... the 3 sec TV delay (vs. what ever the Radio has) made it very interesting knowing ahead of Time what the Broncos were doing ...
JC you were there?? thanks for the post ... watched the Women hand it to the Lady Gaels the Broncs pasted a double L on the lothed Moraga Cherries ...
From the TV vantage Scott B. looked to put in a good effort on both ends of the court when early? in the 2nd half he came in ... I thought St Mary's would have a great shot to come back then but solid (not flashy) play helped the Broncos hold the lead ...
Also my man Mr. Neuburger looked solid once again ... four possessions and three great passes ... again should have had an assist or two and just in 1+ minute of play ... give him some time and who knows ... I hope he continues his game and improves enough to get some real playing time ...
Jordan looked solid as well and had 9 Rebounds ... plus that 3 attempt ... a little more output from the rest of our bigs and we will be the team to beat in the league ...
Nice to see Kyle having a good game and making good decisions ... we are learning how to close out a game and that can only help ....
Saw the team as they came back to Leavey and many watched the end of the Women's contest. They looked composed and as Doron said in the post game interview? like they expected to win ...
Enjoy it ... you earned it ...
and
Go BRONCOS ! ! !

Wasn't There, but... -- JC, 22:21:41 01/15/05 Sat
Saw it on FSN BA via Dish Network. Sorry if I was misleading. I will be attending one or both of the So Cal Games and an hoping to tool up for the SDU game. Let's hope they continue with the intensity they've shown of late.

Nice Quotes in Full AP Story -- Bronco66, 23:12:46 01/15/05 Sat
from the Chronicle (SFgate.com) website
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/news/archive/2005/01/15/sports2227EST0110.DTL
Santa Clara 65, St. Mary's 42
JANIE McCAULEY, AP Sports Writer
Saturday, January 15, 2005
(01-15) 20:05 PST MORAGA, Calif. (AP) --
Kyle Bailey and his Santa Clara teammates were tired of recalling the beatings they took from Saint Mary's last season.
The Broncos turned the tables this time.
"We all knew about the 60 points' worth from last year," Bailey said. "We had to come in and cut into that a little bit."
"I'm not surprised with how well they played," Saint Mary's coach Randy Bennett said. "They're a good team and had a bad slump there. I know they knew what happened last year and that they'd be ready to play. I'm surprised with the margin we lost by and their dominance."
"They came in with a chip on their shoulder after we beat them so bad last year," Gaels guard E.J. Rowland said.
"We can play selfish, and when we play selfish we're easy to defend," Bennett said.
(JC -- see you in LA? )

oops! -- SCU beats the 'Experts' Again -- Sports Network, 00:52:01 01/16/05 Sun
Saint Mary's is one of the hottest teams in the country at this point and with a strong defensive effort, it should have no trouble handling a slumping Santa Clara club tonight.
Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Saint Mary's-CA 75, Santa Clara 60
