Subject: Junior Rueesel

Junior Russeel out of Santa Cruz is projected to be a D2 player or with 2 yrs at the JC level is considered a low D1 talent. Besides his lack of size (5'6'') and lack of a perimeter games, his pluses are his handles, leadership qualities, and a pure point guard who sees the floor really well and has a pass first mentality.

We better get a pg really soon or we could be in trouble.

I'm betting that DD goes the JUCo route. He will need some one with experience to either back up or play in front of Angley.Another big body and a scoring wing woudl be good, too. Maybe Henke with a few more pounds and seasons could fill the bill for the former:they're losing a lot of scoring for next season.

I'm liking how Brody is improving ... his shot selection is good (3rd best 3-% on team and #1 Travis is @ 1.000 for 1)

he is consistantly looking better at assists and floor decisions ... Kyle is making noise like he wants to come back for a 5th year (don't hold your breath on that NCAA five year to finish rule ... eventhough you 'NEED' 5 to get enough class to graduate in the big FACTORY schools)

and don't forget Brandon is "due" back next year ... perhaps the best shooter on the team ... especially if he regains his Freshman form and improves ... he sure looks like he wants in at the games (doesn't travel much??)

the big need is a BIG/WIDE body in the middle ... someone who will free up Travis ... SEAN looks more agressive and now if he can step it up say 20% -- anyone know a good Linebacker/Defensive End coach for Dennison ... perhaps the 'Tree could give him a call ...

big game tonight in Malibu ...

it was the turning point in last year's run ... let's hope it is this year as well

Go Broncos !!!

I agree that Brody is improving and could be a solid starter for 3 more seasons. KB would be great to have for another year if he played with the savvy he displayed. v.LMU on a consistent basis. His assist to turnover ratio has improved considerably this year. Assuming the NCAA doesn't finalize this plan of instituional largesse, even if Rohe comes back @ 100% (and he did a serviceable job at the point his freshman year), they need another pg.
Another Awtrey/Lavoroni/ Bruening thug would be a nice addition, assuming he had some game -a Stewart/Vanos type. Maybe Travis has a growth spurt in him. If Denison had the chance to hit the iron during the summer (he might be at a point of diminishing return for his Canadian team forays), he would be more agressive with the confidence that comes with addded strentgh. He has good feet and hands, moves well without the ball, but gets knoocked off the block both offensively and defensively. They have either 2 or 3 schollies left. Hopefully they'll be put to good use. I'm off to Malibu U tonight. Should be fun.

Not sure of KB having another year of eligibility because this would be his forth year in which he has played the whole season, he should be done eligibility wise after this year. Brody has done more than many have thought he could do, if he keeps his improvement up he should have a big year next year and years to come. But we still need a back-up pg and looking at the roster right now there is none. Landing another pg has to happen.
Nice sweep of the southern schools let's keep playing well.

ought-six you are correct about KB ... just reflecting on the possibility of a "5th" year if the NCAA would make that "rules" change ... don't look for it until a season or two down the road ... if ever ...

Mitch Henke had a BREAK OUT night ... came in a made two immediate contributions ... one on each end of the court ... if he plays within himself he is going to be a good one ....

nice to see the team stepping up to the double teaming of Travis by two BIG, Athletic guys underneath ... the kickouts to Ethan looked like giant killers ... and Kyle has his touch and good shot decision back ...

Ethan made another make your own shot move (reminded me of one I saw earlier this year in the PIT) ... he can create his own shot ... needs to work on it ... and the Broncos need to continue to play team ball ... only 12 assists on 30 FGs but spread about as evenly as you can get over 6 players ...

29 pts on turnovers ... and 20 something pts from the bench ...

its a SWEEP of SoCal

Henke certainly showed some promise for the future, with poise and intelligence on both sides of the court. Also of note was Borchart's contribution on defense. He and Neisen did a nice job of working over McGowan and Hicks in the post.As we discussed, Denison needs some strength; he was buffeted around by his Canadian counterpart and had some situations where his lack of heft and aggressiveness prevented him from closing.USF will be tough; they looked very sharp for most of the 'Zag game. '66,where were you sitting? I was 7 rows behind the Bronco bench.

seems the coaches missed the Ontario (as in Canada) center Hicks ... who looks like what Sean should be ... maybe Hicks will be the under 21 Canadian Nat'l team guy that will push him around and/or to the bench (as in pressing type)

JCard ... I was 3 rows up ... right behind DD and to the right (a couple of seats) to Ms. Osborne ... the reigning Soccer Queen of the Country (Honda version) (photo is Leslie not me)
