Defense has been the key for the Gaels so far this season, as they are holding opponents to only 61.2 ppg, but some of that has to do with early competition that was far from challenging (Belmont, Notre Dame De Namur, Hampton, Radford, Sacramento State). What St. Mary's needs now is an impressive display against a tough opponent like Santa Clara to gain some much-needed recognition.
