The Under 21 Canadian national team defeated the Dominican Republic U-21 team by the final of 94-74 in front of 4,000 fans at the Halifax Metro Centre, home of the 2004 Under 21 Tournament of the Americas held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Canada dominated the game from the start and won the first quarter 25-9. In the second quarter the Dominicans got more offensive flow but could not defend the balanced and aggresive offense that Canada showed in the game.

Canada won the first half 48-31 thanks in large part to Sean Denison who had 11 points.

The best scorer in the game for Canada (was) Sean Denison with 15 points.

Canada (2-0) and Argentina will face each other tomorrow to decide the first place in group A.

Canada opens with win
Dominant defence helps home team jump out to big half-time lead

. . . The loudest cheer from the crowd of a few thousand came when Canada's Henry Bekkering made a left-handed floater with 2:11 left, giving Canada an 81-63 lead. A McDonald's promotion promised that if Canada topped 80, fans could redeem their ticket stubs for free Big Macs.

( does this mean SCU has a McDonald's All Canadian?? )

Go Sean !!! Allez Canadiens !!!

No ... not left and right but from the field and the line ...

in an amazing show of consistancy Sean was 5 for 6 inside the arc ... and from the charity stripe ...

add to that 4 PF's and it sounds like M. Dennison is preparing for some hard-nosed Bronco B-Ball ...

Argentina storms back on Canada

By Chris Kallan

Argentina turned up the D a few notches and then some in a 79-70 come-from-behind victory over Canada in the round-robin finale of the under-21 FIBA Tournament of the Americas last night at the Halifax Metro Centre.

An abundant number of turnovers — 27 in total — finally cost the host team. A total of five field goals over the final 20 minutes didn’t help matters much either.

Kentucky forward Sheray Thomas and Santa Clara forward Levon Kendall each finished with 13 points for Canada.

while rival "The Halifax Herald Limited" reported:

Canada falls to Argentina

By CHAD LUCAS / Sports Reporter

The game was a three-point contest until Juan Rivero's driving layup with 1:50 to play put Argentina in the driver's seat.

Patience on offence was a key again for Canada, which shot an impressive 68 per cent (17-for-25) from the floor in the first half. They led 46-43 at the break after Costain sank a three-pointer with nine seconds left.

Canada Sean Denison 5, Corey Hallett 4, Shane James 4, Majak Kou 4, Tristan Blackwood 2, Garry Gallimore 2.
