Subject: Reporting from the Front Lines ....

obviously the first big note was Freshman Mitch Henke starting ... a good looking young man .. it was good to see a true Freshman starting for a DD team ...

the bench looked as scary as usual (as of late) ... it seemed like half the team was in street clothes ... (add OK to the list as he will most likely Redshirt ... and my understanding is that you can't even play an exhibition ... )

the starting lineup was Travis, Mitch, Linden, Kyle and Ethan ... I was waiting for Perkins ... but one of the first subs was Jordan Legge ... who looked good out there ... still with the bowl cut ... Travis picked up where he left off ... a one man floor pounding project (luckily for him we don't have the old Maples boingggg floor ... or he still be bouncing ) along with an enhanced surfer length doo ... Travis has been working on his right hand ... still doesn't do a lot ... but its another weapon ...

I am somewhat concerned about our inability to stop the inside moves of our opponents ... Holy Names had a BIG (as in wide body) Center out of San Quentin ... (as in the town I would presume) not really mobile and we couldn't stop him ... Linden will need to step up his defense ...

Brody looked real good out there ... made a spin move that had him rolling off the defensive tackle ... errr ... it looked really good ... and fast ...

I think the Line up I liked the best was Brody, Perkins, Ethan, Henke and Travis ... small but FAST and agressive ... and agressive the Broncos were ... at least Perkins, Angley, Henke, and Niesen ... they were getting to HMU's passes (jumping up and cutting 'em off) ... looked REALLY "athletic" ... this is a new look for the Broncs ...

also saw some full court pressure ... not super intense but makes the other guys work ... and some mistakes were forced ...

Our three shooting sucked ... (now they did play the international? arc and expanded lanes but I don't think that accounted for it) ... Ethan
looked the best of our shooters .. but still had problems getting the round thing in the round thing ... Kyle still needs to work on shot selection ... but he had a couple of open looks and missed ...

Mitch has range and I noted at least one shot from the right wing almost to the collegiate arc ... good !!!

And I will put in a plug for Mr. Neuburger yet again ... he came in late (last two minutes) but as usual with a lot of fire and quickness ... and made a couple of nifty passes ... I would like to see him run the offense for a while ... my guess is that he doesn't shoot that well ... but I seem to remember a shot last year that wasn't so bad ... and let's face it ... out #1 PG wasn't looking all that good anyway ...

the good notes ... Mitch Henke -- the real thing, Brody Angley -- welcome to Div-I college ball ... had his pocket picked by a smaller!!! quicker?? HNU guard (while looking at the bench for instructions ... but he learned) ... Travis is BACK and as intense as ever ... and perhaps has been reviewing old Dick Fosbury tapes ... He just has to remember to tuck that chin into his chest when going down ...

next is that Polish team Cal St. Stanislaus ... Saint Stanislaus is the patron of Kelbasa I seem to remember ... but then I'm getting older ...

I'm sure I miss a bit ... but oh yea ... we still haven't got the Open 3 shooter covered down yet ... it looked better but as you can tell from the Box Score ... they hit the threes ... and most were uncontested ones ...

and as we saw last year ... Perkins is an animal at picking up the Offensive board scraps`-- four of his five rbs were Offensive ...

waiting to see how Mr. Parham fits into the puzzle ...

Travis, Parham, Henke, Perkins, Angley --- now that's a line up I'm waiting to see ..

Abq ... will be interesting ...
