what scares me is the league he is in...although I am sure he is a great player and really tough, he is probably playing against at best Sunday Adult League Competition. I am sure the crwd up north is not the most athletic group, which worries me because all teams in our league keep adding athletes.

Valid point. I think he has been successful in Club ball and the CIF-Sectionals, so he has played against some better compettition. Day in day out, the Nor-Cal ( I mean north of the Bay Area) level of talent isn't LA or even Minneapolis,so ther will likely be an adjustment. Plus dude appears to be tough, strong, athletic and determined. That can count for a bunch.
