Dear committee,

I had an idea, since whenever I go out on the hill I always find sweet wrappers and crisp packets, why don't we have a clean a crag trip, where we spend 1 hour picking litter from a local crag and then go climbing. Provide bin bags, latex gloves and/or handwipes. Write a report to the BMC for good publicity. Summit mag lists recent activities by affiliates. Unless of course we are still unaffiliated....

Just thinking of the local crags that the club actually visit of the top of my head:

*Trowbarrow (and associated local limestone)
*Thorn crag
*Giggleswick
*Langdale (Ravens ect.)
*Shepherds
*Various Yorkshire Grit

Not to piss on your fire too much, but i can't actually remember EVER seeing much in the way of litter at ANY of these crags. So there might not be too much to write up.

These crags are in locations generally away from the masses, so thats why there aint too much rubbish.

However, we could go to Anglezarke, the Wiltons, Houghton etc... These pits in the ground pretty much entirely consist of rubbish (routes included) and it would take more than team LUMC to sort them mess out.

There are plenty of opportunities for the Club to put something back into the climbing community.

I'd suggest taking part in one of the clean-ups arranged by the BMC and local area committees such as the recent ones at Houghton and Egerton quarries.

You've just missed the Tremadog Festival but there is a similar revival planned for the Lake District.

If all that isn't enough then you can always go to the BMC Area Meetings to hear what's going on and have your say on local crags.

Personally I just try and take back at least one bit of rubbish more that I took to the crag.

Stunning weekend just had in N. Wales, hope everyone enjoyed Roses. Congrats to all those who took part.
