The “linguistics” lesson was well done, but I couldn’t help wondering if I was being patronized throughout it. Hmmm… I still wonder. You’ll be interested to know that I’ve decided that everything I need to know I learned from Schoolhouse Rock c. 1980. In addition, I also learned that “Three is a Magic Number”, “The Shot Heard ‘Round the World was the start of the Revolution”, and to this day, I can’t recite the Preamble to the US Constitution without singing the song in my head. So to you, oh professor of English, I say “thanks but no thanks”. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to attend to the Energy Bill sitting here on Capitol Hill.
