Okay, well we've had some discussion of The Passion and Farenheit 9-11 of being not only the most important, and by that I mean socially, that is seen by many and potentially instituting change in our society (for good or ill, as it were)films of this year, but most important in a long time. I'd like to submit a third candidate - and that is Morgan Spurlock's "Supersize Me." The Passion may be of long term, overarching importance, Farenheit may be important of deciding the upcoming election, but Supersize Me maybe should be the one that inspires the most actual action by Americans. I saw the film at the end of May, and haven't eat ANY fast food since - and that's while working on the road a good portion of the time where fast food is practically a way of life. If Eric Schlosser's must-read book "Fast Food Nation" wasn't enough to make you change your diet (this inspired my vegetarianism - 2 years and going strong) then Supersize me will. That's the power of a good film.
