Well put. I call myself a Democrat because I line up with most of the candidates of that party. I do not, however, donate money to any party, or vote a straight ticket. There is a difference between a Democrat and a liberal, of which I think most of us are aware, but often forget. The same goes with conservative and Republican. In 2000, for example, I voted for John McCain in the primary, and Republican for Congressman and another local office. 2008 could be totally different-I will say that the Dems need to get their shit together, figure out a candidate that the whole country (re: the South) can relate to, or a McCain/Giuliani/Frist ticket might look pretty good. Kerry, when all was said and done, was everyone's second choice, but not a strong first choice. If the roles had been reversed, with Edwards/Kerry as the ticket, would it have changed enough votes in the South? Eh?
