is dear child. a grandfather. how he had wanted to be a grandfather. but not for his daughter to leave. he knew most fathers held no attatchments to their grown daughters. he did. he loved her. his only child who cared enough to stick around and keep him company in his old age. he was growing ancient, his movements more choppy and detached, no longer graceful as they had been when he could care for his own herd. his sight was failing, his daughter caught in his memory. and the only one he cared to talk with now and then.
life was so short, yet he had lived. and as soon as his granddaughter was born and well on her way he would let himself go, to live with his only love, his daughter, and those who had fallen before he. and only then would he be at peace with her mother. he had let her die alone. and he regretted it forever. and it would burn a hole through his heart.
