Subject: engine help

Just got my first odyssey 1985 350. I have raced and ben around quads my forever. I got this machine with the engine locked up. I herd alot about these things getting hot and seizing up. You can pull on starter rope and it is locked up tight.I took the head off only and the piston is melted bad. But i can move piston back and forth in the jug.what do you think happened to this engine ? Do you think a peice of the piston broke off and locked the lower end up? Well i cant wait to get this thing going. I will be lifting the jug off soon. Thanks for all your inputs.
