Subject: NEED INFO ON ODDYSSEY

I just bought an oddyssey from my grandfather for 200 bucks. It runs and drives great but doesn't seem to have the horsepower like ones that I have seen before. How do I tell what horse the motor is and is there any thing I can do to make it faster?? Plus what can I do to get the brakes working again?? and if you have any info on them please let me know, email me at Blacksmithindude@aol.com. Thanks
