Martin,
Thanks! It's great to know that the Shamrock is still in business. Is it still owned by Bud Aliprandini? A group of us (led by Al Siniaho of Miami) used to play there in the 60's with our group, the New Breed (I didn't name it...) from time to time. Amazing! 2 Lanes is still there? But it's hard to believe there are no new bars since I left Globe -- the town has grown by 50%, hasn't it?
Bob
P.S. My godmother is Mary Daou, the widow of Tony Daou, who owned Daou's market out on US 70.

Bob,
I hadn't really thought about it, but you are right--there are no new bars in Globe, and many of the ones that were there while we were growing up have closed.
I seem to remember one of the things Globe was known for was the number of bars and gas stations (true service stations back then). There were more of them than any other business.
I haven't been inside in years, but I am pretty sure the balcony is still there in the Globe Theater. I don't see why they would want to rip it out. If there was one gem in Globe, the Globe Theater would be it. They don't build them like that any more.
