I'm also a big DBZ fan and based on my movie experiences, the senses of an Oozaru Saiyan were greatly heightened. For example, in Movie 2 (or was it 3? Anyway, the Tree of Might), Gohan had sensed Gokou flying towards him, as well as Piccolo, who was trying to cut off his tail. Gohan was merely 5 yrs old in that movie I believe. Also, an Oozaru Saiyan isn't very intelligent (Hence why Tetsuo can only perform Eraser Cannon in that form), but they DO know what they're doing and when people are trying to destroy them, as well as what they are destroying (In their animalistic frame of mind anyway). No Saiyan is TRULY intelligent, but being in Oozaru state doesn't make them less intelligent. It just makes them an animal, capable of the thought process of an Ape (Which is pretty high compared to some species). Also, in the same movie (ToM), Gohan was aware that his pet dragon was harmed and saved it from falling...so obviously the Oozaru form of at least a Half-Saiyan child is capable of some human-like thoughts.
Also, if your friend noticed during the Saiyan Saga, when Vegita went Oozaru to destroy Gokou, he was downed for a little while when Yagirobe cut off his tail. He was also GREATLY angered and screamed a lot. It's hard to say whether the tail would be a weak point or not, seeing as in DBZ the tail has been sliced off completely, after which the Saiyan passed out or was close to it. A half-cut tail, with the tail being so sensitive (Think CHILD Saiyan here, not an adult like Vegita, who learned to do away with the weaknesses of his tail), would of course be in pain from it, and as we all know, pain makes animals angry, anxious, over-alert, and quick to attack.
Lastly, who grew bigger after the transformation? I don't believe Vegita, nor I have mentioned our Oozaru forms getting more massive.
