Hi there! I've been to the Benicassim Festival 2005 in Spain. Though the election of the bands was not good enough for me I spent a good time there. Only Nick Cave was a greeeeat performance ("LCD soundsystem" were not bad but jokes like "The polyphonic spree"-imagine a combination between the awful "Yes" and the awful "Kelly family" and you got it- were almost the worst and unbereable stuff I've ever seen). I also discover new substances from the dope department: "crystal"...just three takes, each every 30 minutes -no more- and your back aches,neck aches,hangovers and so simply disappear. And the best of all is that you are not feeling stoned...just a nice feeling in your body and mind. Anyway, I think this festival should fit perfectly for the "Woodentops". We scrapped a little about this in Barcelona with Frank (if you remember). I've seen different festivals around here and the only one that could be perfect for you is Benicassim. Serious. I spoke with some friends of mine who work at the backstage and they told me that musicians are treated pretty well, good food, good sound...and the organization is propably the best around. You don't have to wait in a row to piss, have food/drinks or to have tickets. There's medical assistance all over the place (just in case) and the only Police is outside the festival for avoiding junkies or heroin takers do their thing. Inside, everybody takes e-ve-ry-thing without being observed or arrested. The grass zone was plenty of people "drawing lines", making joints and...you know. No fights during the five days, only bad drinkers from the upper side of Europe and from the "Oasis" fans. So, think about it, consider that festival for the next future I'm sure that Mister De Freitas can tell you more about that. Re-cheers.
