the gig was everything i hoped it would be... so good to hear those tracks live at long last (i did get to see latter-dance-woodentops at leicester sq. but they'd already mutated) not to mention the new slow moody one. my wife was maybe a little dubious when i'd first mentioned it but had a great time up the front dancing with us.
benny as got to be one of my favorite drummers (we were talking about a drum-duel with rob gotobed from wire on the way back) and frankie d looked like he was enjoying the bass (nice to hear more low end than the recorded versions). simon got some great guitar stuff going and rolo was like a man possessed. definitely agree with geoff about the songs building into extended grooves... worked a treat!
the storm on the way back to waterloo was spectacular... we got soaked but it didn't matter. it was a fantastic night!
rolo, if you get the chance to step stateside, don't forget atlanta... nice one!
