Date Posted: 17:59:10 05/03/03 Sat Looking for family of JOHN PATTON born about 1837/38 possibly in Holywood, Co Down. Fathers name was William Patton and his mothers maiden name was possibly ?? JACKSON. In 1854, aged 16, John signed on as an apprentice seaman details on his indenture certificate stated he was a 'native' of Holywood, and a Mr John Spence acted as his surety. There is a JOSEPH in this family, possibly a brother, but that is all I know. John Patton arrived in NZ about 1860/2 and married in 1865. He drowned in 1873 leaving a young widow with four children. Daughter Jessie Patton, and sons William Jackson Patton, Peter Gardner Campbell Patton and John Patton. If anyone recognises these names I would be really pleased to hear from you. I welcome any information on my ancestors. John Patton was my grt grt grt grandfather. Bev from NZ [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
