I'll tell you whats up there: rocks, sand and its cold.
Instead of the Billions and Billions of dollars to send a man up there, I'll only charge you ONE MEEEEELION dollars for that information. I will send you my bill.

Ha-ha,very funny,it's not a waste of money, what if they can find something to help the starving children on this planet.
George Bush is not spending enough on space programs, that is why I will vote for Kerry,at least he will try to help!

I think we should go to Mars in a manned spaceship so we can really see what is up there.

Oh KATHY, YOUR SO RIGHT. I TRUST NASA TO SPEND OUR MONEY WISELY -- READ ON ------, 17:09:47 01/17/04 Sat
ZERO GRAVITY
When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they
quickly discovered
that ball-point pens would not work in zero gravity.
To combat this problem, NASA scientists spent a decade
and $12 billion
developing a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside
down, on almost any
surface including glass and at temperatures ranging
from below freezing to over
300 C.
The Russians used a pencil.
Enjoy paying your taxes--they're due again.

Many people have to write things in strange positions, such as mechanics, this makes the cost cheaper.

what the hell does that mean?
This was not a private company developing the pen, it was the US Govt. and they are NOT profitting from it. I'm a mechanic, and I never had a need for one. IF I had to write upside down I'd use a ....PENCIL.
