What do you think about the "Hard Rock Cafe" building a casino in what is now... -- zuwahrah, 14:09:29 07/10/04 Sat
...a parking lot across from Resorts?
It's not a done deal but according to Pinky's column in this week's "Atlantic City Weekly", within the next 60 days, Nick Ribus is supposed make an announcement about something being built across the street from Resorts and according to Pinky, it looks like it might be a "Hard Rock Cafe Casino".
To me, it sounds too good to be true. I could see them building a casino in the marina district, but not up on the boardwalk. Maybe they'll build 2 casinos!

If it slows the growth of casinos in Atlantic City, that's fine with me... -- zuwahrah, 04:40:26 07/22/04 Thu
Las Vegas is stronger than ever. The proliferation of casinos throughout the country hasn't seemed to have affected Las Vegas.
I personally think that we are going to see a shakeout of the boardwalk casinos.
I think that when the casino revenue report comes out for July, we will see that the new Resorts Tower hasn't really helped Resorts that much, if at all.
I don't think that the new addition that the Tropicana is building is going to help the Tropicana that much, if at all.
I'm one of those people that would have been happy to have turned the light out on Atlantic City before the casinos opened.
I would hate to see Atlantic City turn into Manhatten.
