Hi Sue,
It's a pleasure to meet you!
We found the White Doberman Club and Bette (or Elizabeth), in 1996 and immediately became members. We were impressed with Bette's passion to educate members (I still have her newsletters, 'Voice of the White Doberman')about health testing and responsible breeding. Bette spoke of PETA, the DPCA, the importance of titling and getting the CHS on our dogs; she was truly in it for the good of the dog. Even back then, she spoke of the possibly of starting a separate breed because of the discrimination towards the White Doberman.
The NKC was suggested by Barbara Snider as a place to show the white/cream Dobermans in conformation and their first show was slated for Lynchburg, Ohio, September 1996.
The president, Maria Hall was interested in forming Chapter Clubs throughout the country.
Those were the good ole days.
Sue, had your sister not passed away so unexpectedly, I have no doubt that the 'White Doberman Club' would still exist today, and the White Doberman movement would be lightyears ahead of what we see now. Bette was a REAL
leader and loved by so many. May she rest in peace.
