Dear Aileen,
Thank you for your note on my website forum page & kind comments on my work.
Yes! I would very much appreciate more information on your uncle Bert MacDonald and a any pictures would be a very welcome addition. I actually wrote an account in a book back in 1999 entitled "HELL ON HIGH GROUND - Vol 2` this can be found on my website, though I`d be happy to scan the pages for you. There was another good account written about the rescue by the Shepherds etc by Peter Clark a good friend of mine in his little book `Where the hills meet the sky`.
The Mosquito crash I was unaware of and was so sorry to hear about this. A look in my text books says it was on a routine training exercise with No 1655 MTU (Mosquito Training Unit) on 11/8/43 when the engine cut and the aircraft stalled and crashed on approach to RAF Marham about half a mile east of the drome, one killed and one injured.
Again, I thank you for your kind words and I look forward to hearing from you.
You can send the details & pics via e-mail if you wish, but please keep files under 2mb each e-mail. Or if you prefer my home address is:
David W.Earl, 25 Hanover Street, Stalybridge, Cheshire. SK15 1LR. England.
Kind Regards.
David.
