Lundy crashes
Shortened form reports from personally records. The original records are 3 resp. 19 pages!
He-111 3911; the correct time for the crash on the Lundy is-land is March 3rd 1941. I got this date from the personally record of E. Bötcher. The March 1st was a mistake by my first report,
the aircraft became hit by AAA from a vessel!

He-111 3837; the record for this aircraft is reported by Pvt. Adolf Hohnbaum
Crewmembers:Pilot Uffz. Nicolay burned by crash
Nav. Uffz. Kunze "
Ing. Uffz. Keuchel "
Op. Uffz. Kroker seriously wounded
Op. Pvt. Hohnbaum Adolf slightly wounded

The aircraft attacked a convoy with approximately 30 ves- sels. Bombed a freightship without sucess by 12 x 50 kg bombs. During they crossed the vessels in very low alti- tude, they strafing the ships by cannonfire. At this time the starbord engine hit by antiaircraft fire from a des- troyer. The pilot flew the aircraft by one engine. When they take direction to Ireland the portengine lost power. Now they will be take an emergencylanding on the Lundy is- land. Short bevor they arrived the island, the portengine suddenly broke down and the bomber crashed in the cliffs.
If you are interestet for further details, please give me your address for postmail. But to your information, the re- ports are in german language.
Elmar Bötcher is passed away in 1994 and Adolf Hohnbaum in late 2002

best regards From Nürnberg, Germany
