Hi there,

just a few questions if anyone would be kind enough to answer them, I'd like to add them to a personal project of mine:

1) Can anyone shed any light to the disappearance of the main components such as the engines, wheels, etc? The engines are heavy lumps of metal so they must have been removed by vehicle or helicopter? Or were they buried by the force of the impact or the Maintenance Unit afterwards, as was commonly done? It's common in high speed impacts that heavier components drive themselves into the ground whilst fragile components, such as the wings, are torn off and remain at the surface.

2)What direction was the Wimpy flying?

3)Is the main wreck site the area of impact or is it where the bulk of the plane came to rest? If it is the impact site then it appears to have hit at a very steep angle, perhaps vertically? Or was the wreckage collected from all over the hillside and placed here?

4)How long did it take the RAF/RCAF to locate the site?

5)How long has the memorial been on the site?

Kindest regards
Chris James
