Hi Damien,

The RAF could not establish the cause of the crash due to insufficient evidence. They did determine that the Lancaster was under-power and at high speed when it impacted with Garn Las, due to the state of the wreckage. We'll never know the cause. As was always with 1940's accidents it was more than likely a combination of pilot/navigation error and bad weather, due to the lack of navigational aids that aircrew of today take for granted (TFR, GPS, etc.),
