My grandfather owned Flotterston farm at that time. It was he, and my uncle who ran out to the plane when it crashed. Although I was not born until many years later, I heard the story as a child. I was told that the pilot was not seriously injured and that my uncle took him prisoner of war. Whatever it's worth, that's the story as I remember it. My uncle later died when the bomber he was piloting was shot down over Essen. My grandfather died in 1958 so there is no one to corroborate the story.
