PLEASE RESPOND!!!!!!" on 23:26:20 10/30/01 Tue There's this Electric Razor scene, in which Seth realizes for the first time that something is really wrong. Goldblum's face expression is incredible. He perfectly mimics the expression of awareness that something is very wrong. He smashes the Razor into the bath in absolute despair. The psychological phase of "Denial" is now over, and the next phase, "Awareness" is starting. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

The psychological phase of >"Denial" is now over, and the next phase, "Awareness" >is starting. It's true, Brundle seems to go through an entire 12-step program throughout the film. Actually, in a fanfic I'm planning for this site, we'll see what Brundle went through between the discovery of his fusion with the fly and the phone call one month later. Here are some of my favorite Goldblum facial expressions in the film: 1. Brundle loses his teeth, feels around for them with his tongue, then sighs and twists his lips in consternation. 2. Brundle violently accuses Ronnie of being jealous, then silently reinforces the point by widening his eyes at her. 3. Brundle is forced to look at himself in the mirror (literally and figuratvely) and realizes something went wrong. 4. The Insect Politics speech. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 14:04:08 10/31/01 Wed Man, can't agree more (about everything you said). You just reminded me why this fantastic movie gives me the chills every time anew. Oh, and another thing - I mentioned in another post that Cronenberg gives a special meaning to the songs. Well, the mirror you mentioned has another special meaning in all of Cronenberg movies. In all of them (The Fly, Crash, Dead Ringers, M. Butterfly) it's a way one is looking (literally AND figuratively) at himself or someone else. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
