Good morning all

I got out in the back yard to view Saturn and Jupiter Saturday night, and was blown away. The clarity and steadiness in the atmosphere was unreal.
I wished I had a roll of film, I'd taken some picture's.

Even from our light polluted location the detail was fantastic. The Cassini Div, 4-moons, Saturn's shadow against the ring's, and bands of darker material where easily visible. Looked to me like a dark spot on the South polar region. Can anyone confirm?

I couldn't believe how sharp the edges where, and how clear the shadow of Saturn was against the ring's. Jupiter was also phenomenal, with the two equatorial bands clealy visible, and subtle disturbances in those bands visible. I also thought I had seen the red spot...but it must have been just euphoria. After averting my vision and really looking under hi power, @210x, too no avail, it wasn't there.

Io, was so close to Jupiter I had expected to see a shadow but realized it was going to be transiting behind the planet. Didn't see a shadow. Was this correct for Saturday night?

Maybe it was just my perception because I haven't gotten outside to view for a few weeks, but I thouroughly enjoyed the crisp evening.
Let us know if anyone else had a chance to view over the weekend.
Take care everyone. See you all soon.

Tony B.

P.S. No baby yet....sheesh
